Library Behavior Policy

Library Behavior Policy

The Nineveh Public Library is open to people of all ages for the use of its available resources. All those using the Library can expect to use the Library and its resources in a safe environment that is appropriate for the services offered.

People who exhibit disruptive behavior will be asked to leave the premises after one verbal warning and if the disruptive behavior continues, the appropriate law enforcement agency will be contacted. Disruptive behavior is defined as, but not limited to loud noises, inappropriate language, aggressive behavior, running, smoking, damaging library property or deliberate annoyance of other Library patrons and/or staff.

Battery-operated personal appliances are permitted as long as they are not audible and/or disruptive to other patrons. Appliances that plug in are not permitted due to the lack of electrical outlets.

Young children under the age of twelve (12) need to be accompanied by an adult. Staff is not responsible for supervision of young children. The appropriate law enforcement officials will be contacted in the event that a child is left unsupervised without an adult or guardian. Under no circumstances, will the Library staff take a child out of the building or transport children to another location.

Our Construction is Done!

“Out With the Old, In With the New.”  That is what happened to the Nineveh Public Library this winter.  We received a Grant from the Whitney Titus Trust Fund and were able to purchase new shelving and carpeting.  The Library looks amazing!  If you have nothing to do on a rainy day or just have some free time, stop into the Library to find a new author, see our bestsellers, or explore the internet on the computers.

We have purchased new books in our Best Sellers collection, with authors like:  David Baldacci, Michael Connelly, Danielle Steel, James Patterson and many more. We also have books that are available in large print and of course, many children’s and young adult books. With a Grant from Senator Akshar we have purchased many children’s books for our Summer Program last year.  The Library just started a monthly story time hour and the children can make a craft to take home and we have plenty of giveaways.  We have a Facebook page where we post events and what is happening at the Library.  We also post on the Harpursville Happenings page.

The Library will have our annual puppet shown on June 8th at 9:00 am, at the WA Olmsted Elementary, featuring Bruce Weaver. This is our kickoff for our Summer Reading Program.  This year’s theme is “Libraries Rock.”  Notices will be sent out when the registration will begin.

Come visit us and see what a great treasure you will find at your local Library!  Feel free to give us a call at Tel:  607-693-1858, Fax:  607-693-1358.

Our hours are: Starting April 16, 2018 new hours:   Monday-Thursday 11:30 am to 6:00 pm

Friday and Saturday  9:00 am to 3:00 pm (staying the same)
